Thomas H. Kiffel

1929 - 2014

Thomas H. Kiffel, 84, of Kenosha, died on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at his daughters residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Kenosha on Sept. 26, 1929, he was the son of the late Herman and Hertha (Heimsoth) Kiffel. He attended local schools and was a graduate from Mary D. Bradford High School.

From Dec. 18, 1951, until his honorable discharge on Dec. 6, 1953, he honorably served in the Marine Corp during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Sergeant.

On Aug. 27, 1949, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to Dolores M. Savaglio. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2004.

Tom was employed with AMC/Chrysler Corporation for 40 years, retiring as a Labor Relations Manager in 1988.

After retirement, Tom and Dolores moved to Phelps, Wis., where they entertained many guests in Northwoods adventures. They returned to Kenosha in 1999.

Throughout his entire life, Tom was very active in all sports, including playing football for the Kenosha Redskins in 1948 and 1949. For ten years, he was a coach and manager of Sparks Insurance Little League and he managed the Pony League Team for three years.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #552 in Somers, WI. He loved fishing, hunting and golf and was an avid Green Bay Packer Fan.

He is survived by his two children, Diane (Craig) Stewart and Tom Kiffel; his three grandchildren, Melissa Stewart, Michael (Rachel Brandl) Stewart and John Kiffel; his great granddaughter, Avalynn Stewart; his brother, Jim Kiffel; his sister, Joanne (Joe) Vagnoni; his sister-in-law, Gloria Kiffel; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dolores, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Kiffel; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Kiffel.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at 12 noon at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Entombment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. A visitation for Tom will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
