KINSTON - Donald Everett Lewis, 66, of Kinston, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013. Born in Oklahoma City, Okla., on June 9, 1947, he was the son of the late Spurgeon Harvey Lewis and Arlene Muriel Whitman Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a special brother, Stanley Lewis. Donald worked in maintenance with Vermont American in Greenville, and proudly served his Country with the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing and truly loved his grandchildren. He was a member of Hillside OFWB Church in Grifton. Survivors include his wife Marie, of the home; daughter, Lisa Lewis of Kinston; son, Russell Lewis and wife Kelly, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Skyler Hill and Jared Lewis; three sisters; and four brothers. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Pastors Michael Lewis and James Burkett officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Westview Cemetery.
