SHROUT, TSGT DUSTIN ASHLEY, US AIR FORCE - age 31, currently serving at Hurlburt Field Air Force Base, Florida, formerly of Rockwood, Tennessee, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013, in Florida. He was born July 30, 1982 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Dustin was a 2000 graduate of Rockwood High School. TSGT Shrout was currently serving in the U.S. Air Force 1st Special Operations Air Craft Maintenance Unit "Ghost Riders" and formerly served with the U.S. Air Force 33rd Air Rescue Squadron "Jolly Green Giants". Currently stationed at Hurlburt Air Force Base in Florida, he was formerly stationed at Okinawa, Japan, and Moody Air Force Base, in Georgia. He served on over EIGHT deployments including two to Kuwait, two to Iraq, four to Afghanistan, Hurricane Katrina, the Tsunami response to Japan, the Philippines, and South Korea. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, and the Afghanistan Campaign. He was awarded numerous medals and citations. He always desired to help people and to make a difference. He was a loving father and son. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, P.G. and Ann Shrout; and James and Dorothy Bell. Survivors include children, Seth Aden Shrout of Oliver Springs, TN, Ethan Preston Shrout of Oliver Springs, TN; wife, Tammy Shrout of Oliver Springs, TN; parents, Scott and Deborah Shrout of Rockwood, TN; sister, Cycily Neff and husband, Michael of Knoxville, TN; niece, Freyja Neff of Knoxville, TN; uncles and aunts, Michel Bell and Sherry of Rockwood, TN; Tondra and Harry Gentry of Knoxville, TN, Steve and Carolyn Shrout of Harriman, TN; cousin, Wayne Ashley of Summerville, GA; other nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 24, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Evans Mortuary. Funeral services will follow on Sunday, November 24, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Rev. Charles Kelley officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood with full military honors by the U.S. Air Force. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org or to the American Red Cross for supporting American military families at redcross.org.
