AMBRISTER, FRANK PAXTON - age 85, a native of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012. He was born on December 21, 1926 to the late Bess and Asa R. Ambrister, Sr. Upon graduation from Central High School in 1945, he enlisted in the United States Army during World War II, then completed a tour of duty with the Mechanized Calvary in Germany as a member of the Occupation Forces. After returning home, he graduated from the University of Tennessee in the college of Business in 1951. He entered in to the family real estate and land development business which had been in existence for three generations. He was the retired owner of Rental Home Inc. and Knoxville Real Estate Agency. Frank was an active member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church serving both as Deacon and Elder. He was president of the Knoxville Optimist Club and Lieutenant Governor of Optimist International. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Asa R. Ambrister, Jr. and sister Mary Ann Ambrister. Frank is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Carolyn Johnson Ambrister; son and daughter-in-law, Frank Howard and Pam Ambrister; daughter, Carolyn Ambrister Graves; four grandchildren, Troy Graves, Tristan Ambrister, Christina Graves Edwards and husband Blake and Carter Ambrister; sister-in-law, Dolores Ambrister of Nashville, TN; niece, Betsy Ambrister Shirley and husband Howard; great nephew, Alexander Ambrister and nephew, Asa Jay Ambrister. Frank was an enthusiastic supporter of the University of Tennessee Athletics. He will be remembered for his love and support of family and friends along with being a kind and caring person. A celebration of life service will be held 3:30 p.m. Friday at Eastminster Presbyterian Church with Dr. Sean White officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to Eastminister Presbyterian Church, 4904 Asheville Highway, Knoxville, TN 37914. Online condolences may be sent to www.rosemortuary.com.
