DELANEY, GAYE MILLEN - was born June 23, 1944 in Memphis, Tennessee and raised in Chicago Heights, Illinois, and passed suddenly June 21, 2014. Gaye spent most of her years in the Midwest and eventually relocated to Knoxville in 2002 after a number of years in Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis. Gaye was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and received a Bachelor of Science in Education. She worked in many different industries over the years, including insurance, social service, nonprofit administration, and sales. She was a member of Lennon-Seney United Methodist Church and served as Lay Leader, member of the Trustee Board and Past Parish Chairperson and Past President of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Knoxville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Gaye was wonderful in the area of sales and at the time of her death was employed by Linda's Hallmark Cards in Knoxville. Preceded in death by her parents, McKinley and Helen Prater Millen; brother, Emerson; and husband, William Delaney. Gaye was a cancer survivor and worked tirelessly to support cancer research programs. She leaves to cherish her memories sister, Bonnie (Everett) McLeary of Chicago, IL; brothers, Michael Millen (Madelyn), Moreno Valley, CA., Dudley Millen, Washington, D.C., Lenard Millen, Mound Bayou, MS., Eustace (Oretha) Landers, Moreno Valley, CA; and cousins, Cynthia White, of Knoxville, and Gordon (Annetha) Slade, of Corryton, TN; and a host of other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Saturday at Lennon-Seney United Methodist Church, 2084 Dandridge Ave. Funeral services, 11:00 a.m., Rev. Donald Swift, officiating.
