NEWMAN, JUDY KING - left this world peacefully and lovingly with family by her side on July 30, 2013, after a decade-long battle against breast cancer. Born in Valparaiso, Indiana, Judy grew up in a close-knit family and community along with her parents, brother, and sister. She attended Indiana University, married Tomas L. King of South Knoxville in Indiana, and moved to Knoxville in 1972. They had a long marriage until his passing in 1988. Judy is preceded in death by brother, Richard Holzapfel of Indiana; mother, Mildred Holzapfel and father Simon Holzapfel. She is survived by daughter, Heather Dunlap; husband, Charles V. Newman; and step daughters, Tammy Newman, April Newman Calloway; and son-in-law, Jimmy Calloway. She is also survived by grandsons, Jason Sharp, Clay Calloway, and Ethan Dunlap; sister, Marge Malmquist; and several nieces and nephews. Judy lived an abundant life, and actively participated in such community organizations including Sertoma Club, Ladies of Charity, Religious Education. Judy was the president of her own Commercial and Residential Cleaning business for over 26 years, and was highly respected and loved by both employees and associates. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Farragut on Saturday, August 3, 2013, 11:00 a.m., with private interment to follow.
