BLOOMER, KENNETH RAYMOND - age 84, died at Ft. Sanders Regional Hospital on Saturday, December 7, 2013, following a stroke he suffered at home on Sunday, December 1. He was a member of Church Street United Methodist Church in Knoxville. Ken was born on January 6, 1929, in Rogersville, Tennessee, to Lena Davis Bloomer and Ray Lee Bloomer. He attended schools in Rogersville through the 11th grade, then graduated from Dobyns Bennett High School in Kingsport, Tennessee. He attended Vanderbilt University and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Ken spent 33 years as an engineer for Texaco, Inc. in Houma, Louisiana, Morgan City, Louisiana and New Orleans, as well as Houston, Texas. His career with Texaco also took him and his wife to Cherbourg, France; Odense, Denmark; and Copenhagen, where he was involved in the design, construction, and installation of structures in the North Sea. Ken is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marion Robbins Bloomer; sons, Keith Raymond Bloomer, of Roswell, Georgia, Craig Robbins Bloomer, of Gainesville, Georgia; and daughter, Kimberly Sue Bloomer, of Naples and Cudjoe Key, Florida. He also leaves grandsons, Brian Anderson, of Springfield, Missouri, Chance Bloomer and McKay Bloomer, of Gainesville, Georgia; and granddaughters, Haley Kimball Bloomer and Kelsey Bray Bloomer, both of Roswell, Georgia; and his brother-in-law J. Findley Robbins and his wife Patricia of Knoxville. Ken was predeceased by his parents and his two sisters, Virginia Bloomer Wrigley and Betty Bloomer Richardson; and his mother-in-law, Sue Robbins. A memorial service is planned for Monday, December 9, at 3:00 p.m. at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel, with Rev. Cabel Trent and Rev. Andy Ferguson officiating.
