BEVINS, LYNN GARNIE - age 93, of Concord, Tennessee, formerly of Athens and Murfreesboro, went to be with his Lord, Saturday, May 17, 2014. Lynn was a member of First Baptist Church Concord. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Lynn was a World War II veteran and served with the Air Force in the Philippines. A graduate of Carson-Newman in English, Lynn then earned an education degree and also a masters degree at UT Knoxville. Lynn enjoyed a successful career in education for 32 years. He taught vocational education at McMinn County High School from 1950 to 1962, and advanced to the Tennessee State Department of Education where he retired in 1982. His hobbies include woodworking and quilting, but his greatest passion was his family, especially his grandchildren! Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Garnie B. Bevins and Grace Pippin Bevins; sisters, Eureka Bevins and Leota Duff. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nova Donovan Bevins; sons, James L. Bevins (Jennifer) and Thomas L. Bevins; grandchildren, Michael Bevins (Dawn), Kristi Lewis (Phil), Christopher Bevins (Toscia), T.J. Bevins (Anna); great grandchildren, Alyson, Madison, Tanner, Jasmine, Wyatt, Holland, Miller, Jesse and Tori; special friends, Paul and Suzie Peak; and many extended family members and friends. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Concord Masonic Cemetery.
