HOWARD, OLIN H. - 90, passed away at Methodist Medical Center on July 2, 2014 surrounded by his wife and loved ones. He was born in Laurel County, Kentucky in 1924. He has been a resident of Oak Ridge, Tennessee since 1951. Olin served 3 years in the Marine Corps as a Corporal during WWII. After his tour of duty he received his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, graduating with honors from Berea College in Berea, Kentucky. He valued learning and worked hard to receive his degree. After college, he was employed at K-25 plant as an Analytical Chemist for 33 years in Oak Ridge. He was quiet in nature and considered a gentleman among his co-workers, friends and family. Olin was an enthusiastic University of Kentucky basketball fan. In his earlier years he enjoyed swimming, golfing, bowling, and was an avid reader. He loved being with his family, especially his great grandchildren who adored him. Olin is survived by his loving wife, Eva Howard of Oak Ridge; daughter, Brenda Moore of Dayton; granddaughters, Dawn Barker, husband Darrell and 2 children of McDonald; Heather Poole, husband Eddie and 2 children of Powell; Kim Poche and 2 children of Oliver Springs; grandsons, Shane Moore, wife Edee and 11 children of Dryden, Virginia; and Dustin and Derek Brodeur of Temple, Texas. He is also survived by his sister, Thelma Lucas of Dayton, Ohio and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Benjamin Howard; brother, Burnis Howard; daughter, Lori Cunningham; and grandson Josh Poche. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge on Saturday, July 12, 2014. Receiving of friends will begin at 11:00am with the memorial service to follow at 12:00pm.
