PARKER, SAMUEL ALONZO, SR. - 99, of Corryton, was taken to his Heavenly home, June 21, 2013. An honorable veteran of WWII, serving in Germany, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. This country has lost a brave and faithful servant. He attended Clear Springs Baptist Church. Sam was an avid sports fan, especially his love for the Lady Vols and Atlanta Braves. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Samuel was the senior of four generations. He will be dearly missed by his family. Preceded in death by parents, Francis and Hulda Jane Parker; beloved wife of 62 years, Blanche Parker; grandson, Byron Stormer; three brothers and four sisters. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jackie and Betty Parker, Donnie and Deanna Parker, and Lonnie and Christine Parker; daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Troy Long, Mary and Vincent Stormer, and Becky Smith; sister, Margaret Dalton; eleven grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren. Funeral service 8:00 p.m., Monday, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Rev. David Collins officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home and proceed to Greenwood Cemetery for 11:00 interment. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.
