ALLISON, WILLIAM GUY - age 84, of Knoxville, formerly of Greenfield, TN, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, August 9, 2014. He was a co-founding and charter member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church; TACLU past president; a member of the Board of Directors for Hiwassee College; Partner in Allison, Sherrod and Owens. Guy was a University of Tennessee College Alumni, class of 1956. He served in the United States Navy as a Pilot and Communications officer during the Korean War. Guy was preceded in death by his parents, E. Floyd and Velma Allison and daughter, Janet Allison Swan. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Mai Allison; son, Matthew Allison; daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and James L. Cartee, Jr., Suzette Rankin; Sherry and Jesse Bowe and Kim and Ray Edwards; grandchildren, Allison Mills, Mitchell Rankin, James Cartee, III, Jennifer Rankin, Christopher Swan, Adam Edwards, Cory Bowe, Colby Swan, Kallie Allison; great-grandchildren, Ayden Mills, Charley Rankin and Brogan Mills. The family wishes to give a very special thank you to the Cokesbury Fireside Sunday School Class which he taught for several decades. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Cokesbury United Methodist Church with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM with Revered Kenny Saught and Reverend Gene Richardson officiating.
