Born in Spokane, WA, Richard "Dick" Hoyt enlisted in the Marine Corps at age 17 and spent the WWII years at Honolulu Air Station. After the war he married his sweetheart, Joy Horstmann of Studio City, and spent most of his career years in the San Fernando Valley as a salesman for industrial lubricants. Dick and Joy retired to Leona Valley, where they built a landmark red barn and flew the flag proudly each day. Dick loved vintage cars, a good game of poker, community leadership, and participating in the veteran's group Wings Over Wendy's. After Joy's passing, he moved to Aegis of Granada Hills. He's survived by his daughters, Cherry Henricks, Amy Hoyt, and Audrey Stevens.
