Arlene Doris Brooks Appley was born November 4, 1933 in Greensburg, PA. She spent her early years in Greensburg as well as Cleveland, OH, Tucson, AZ and Los Angeles, CA. She was a graduate of Los Angeles High School and UCLA where she majored in English and Early American History with minors in Political Science and Speech. During the Korean War she was a USO hostess and danced with soldiers at their bases in Southern California and San Clemente Island. As a full-time mother, she lovingly raised 2 sons who will miss her very much. A lifelong liberal democrat, her love of all things political led her to work tirelessly for Common Cause and for Robert F. Kennedy's fateful presidential campaign in 1968. She had a passion for biblical archaeology which greatly enriched her visit to the Holy Land in 1971. She worked as a paralegal for Southern California Edison for over 20 years and, in 2007, moved from West Covina, CA to Chandler, AZ. Preceded in death by her father Samuel Brooks, mother Belle Brooks Cohen and sister Barbara Ann Barnes. She is survived by sons, Alan Joseph and wife Cynthia Chicola Appley, Stuart Harman and wife Gale Paster Appley, grandchildren Maya Alexandra, Maxwell Graeme, Brett Michael, Jamie Alyssa and Dana Nicole.
