Arne was a Registered Nurse in the Air Force, and served in the Army Reserves. He graduated from Tulane Medical School, then emigrated to California. He practiced as a pathologist for 50 years in the Los Angeles area, including at Burbank Memorial and Glendale Memorial hospitals, and in private practice. An avid animal lover, Arne and his friend Arthur adopted many dogs from neighbors and from animal shelters.
