February 16, 1929 - September 19, 2013 Beverly E. Stokes (née Stout), born in El Paso, TX, on Feb. 16, 1929, died in Carlsbad, CA, after a short illness on Sept. 19, 2013, with her daughter Blythe Stokes by her side. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Barbour, and survived by her daughter Blythe, son Brian (Kathy), grandsons Skyler and Alex, and brothers Alton and Robert Nelson. At the end of WWII she served as a WAVE reservist in Vallejo, California. In 1951, she married the love of her life, Barbour Cooper Stokes, Jr. Theirs was a truly happy marriage based on respect and unconditional love. Beverly worked for the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles and later for All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena. A breast cancer survivor, she treasured each day. She loved to read and write. Everyone who knew Beverly loved her and she loved everyone she met. She was one of God's angels on this earth. Memorial services will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 890 Balour Dr., Encinitas, CA, on November 2, 2013, at 1 pm.
