November 30, 1914 - October 26, 2013 Bruna was born in Standard, Illinois, and moved to Chicago at 18 to pursue a nursing degree. There she met her future husband of 64 years, Dominic J. Bernardi, Sr.; shortly after marriage, they moved to New York, where they raised four children. Bruna was a world traveler and loved to talk about the years she and Dom lived abroad, first with three of their children in Milan, Italy, and then in Caracas, Sao Paolo, and Mexico City. After Dom's retirement, they completed tours in Bangkok, Nairobi, Seoul, Kingston Jamaica, and San Jose Costa Rica, all places where Dom worked as a volunteer for the International Executive Service Corps. Late in life they settled at Villa Gardens in Pasadena, CA. Bruna died peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 26, 2013. after a two year battle with esophageal cancer. She is predeceased by her husband Dominic and their daughter Kathryn Ann Roddy. She is survived by three children: Dominic J. Bernardi, Jr., Gerald Bernardi, and Joanne Bernardi; sons-in-law Joe Keenan, Dale Buralli and John Roddy and his wife, Gail; seven grandchildren: Dominic J. Bernardi III, Leah Sundquist, Andrea Roddy, Brian Roddy, Christine Roddy, Meaghan Roddy, and Regina Buralli: and three great-grandchildren: Brianna Sundquist and John and Owen Reider. They will love her forever and always remember her warm smile and huge heart. She touched everyone who ever met her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bruna's honor to the National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, November 15, 2013 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Pasadena. Bruna's ashes will be interred next spring at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland.
