December 17, 1925 - April 14, 2014 Formerly of Sherman Oaks, passed away in Escondido, California. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Merle Smallberg, and is survived by four children, David Smallberg of Granada Hills, CA, Julia (David) Ruskin of Annandale, VA, Donna (Layne) Johnson of Plano, TX, and Teresa (Michael) Everett of Escondido, CA; eight grandchildren; and her sister, Faye Cooper. Dorothy was born in Atlantic City, NJ and received her B.A. in Art from UCLA. She served as principal of El Retiro School for Girls in the early 1950s. A passionate cook, she taught many cooking classes over the years and amassed an enviable collection of hundreds of cookbooks representing cuisines from all over the globe.
