Elizabeth Anne Ashe died on October 29, 2013, in Los Angeles, after a short and difficult battle with cancer.
The daughter of Dr. Hilary Ashe and Mary Frances Ashe (Knowles), Liz lived in Los Angeles for most of her life. She went to Area D Alternative School and attended college at UC San Diego and UCLA. She worked for many years at Robin Rose Ice Cream in Venice, CA, and then later she worked for and eventually took on ownership of Focus LA, a market research company. Liz was a gifted woman with a wide variety of interests. She loved cooking and would host elaborate dinner parties for her friends and family. She was an avid horsewoman and animal lover who doted on her horses, Mousse and Alaric, and her parrot, Sweetpea. She loved sailing, reading and all types of music. She was an equestrian coach for Special Olympics for many years. She volunteered generously to causes such as AIDS Walk LA and KCRW. Dear to her heart was the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles, for which she served on the Board of Directors for several years.
She is survived by her family, including her brother Benjamin Ashe, her sisters Rebecca Ashe and Norah Ashe-McNalley, her brothers-in-law Rich Tighe and Cody Ashe-McNalley, and her nieces and nephews, Ian, Hillary, Frances, and Isaac. She also leaves behind many loving and devoted friends and their cherished memories of her.
A memorial will be held in her honor on November 17, at 2 pm, at All Soul's Chapel downtown, 637 S. Lucas Ave, LA 90017. Flowers may be sent by November 15, or in lieu donations can be made to Special Olympics Equestrian, Los Angeles Maritime Institute, or the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles.
