October 29, 1946 - February 3, 2014 Ernest Lona was born in Los Angeles on October 29, 1946 and passed on February 3, 2014. Ernie proudly served his country as a Marine in the Vietnam War. His education and skills led him into a career as a firefighter for the Los Angeles City Fire Department. After 25 years of service, he retired. Ernie rejoined the work force and began his second career as Security Chief at CBS Studios in Los Angeles. He retired from CBS Studios and lived out his years in San Gabriel Valley with his wife Marsha. Ernie was a music enthusiast and had an unmistakable voice. In the 60's Ernie was the bass singer in the group Bobby and the Classics. He later left Bobby and the Classics but always maintained his love of music and singing throughout his life. Ernie Lona is survived by his wife Marsha, daughters Tina Schachter, Terrie Lona, Ernestine Lona, Stephanie Mercado. Sons Carlos Palacios and Steven Palacios. Siblings Marylou Hursch, Lilly Makshnoff, Beatrice Lona, Irene Antunez, Francis Lona, Bobby Lona, Ruben Lona, Charlie Lona, Eddie Lona and Angel Lona. Son in laws Julian Mercardo and Ron Schachter. Ernie will be deeply missed by his family and the many friends he made. Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 12, 2014 at 12:30p at Queen of Heaven Mortuary 2161 S.
