Eugene David Weil, 95, peacefully passed away July 14, 2013 at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Palo Alto, California. Gene was born February 27, 1918 to Jacob and Rae (Greenwald) Weil in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Sullivan High School in 1936, and studied at the University of Illinois as well as DePaul University in Chicago.
Gene joined the Illinois National Guard in 1941, and was inducted into the US Army where he served until 1945 as a medic. After moving to Los Angeles, California in 1949, he met Marion Kramer, and they married in 1951.
Gene ran an independent representative agency (now Weil Aquatronics) for more than 20 years until his retirement in 1984. After retiring he volunteered his time at the local senior center.
He is survived by his son, James (Susan) Weil, and daughter, Helene Weil; grandchildren, Anya Shulman, Valerie and Ondrej Weil; sister Dorothy Manolson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his wife Marion.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2013, 11:00 am at Groman Eden Mortuary, 11500 Sepulveda Blvd, Mission Hills, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the
or Wounded Warrior Project.
