icon February 25, 1922 - December 16, 2013 Fred Baldino passed away peacefully at the age of 91. Born Fred James Baldino in Pennsylvania, he was the 8th of 12 children. Fred enlisted in the US Army in May of 1941 and joined the 82nd Airborne. Fred made 3 combat jumps and was awarded two Purple Hearts. He participated in the crossing of the Waal River, considered to be one of the bravest acts of WWII. Fred came to California in 1945 and joined the US Post Office. He met his bride, Mary at a Hollywood Palladium dance and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Fred 'Baldy' Baldino loved family, friends, music, bocce and making people smile. Fred was an avid sports fan and a loyal Dodgers fan. He was also a member of the DAV and the Garabaldina MB Society. Fred was predeceased by his daughter Linda and is survived by his wife Mary, his son Frank (Nancee), grandchildren Ronni, Brian (Amanda), Kelli and Steve as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in January for close family and friends.
