September 14, 1940 - June 17, 2014 Joan Henes Westman Chesley died peacefully on June 17, 2014 at her home in La Canada Flintridge. Joan was born on September 14, 1940 in Oshkosh, WI, to Pete and Mary Henes. Raised in South Minneapolis, MN, she attended Gustavus Adolphus College and the University of Minnesota, where she graduated in 1962. After relocating to the Los Angeles area in 1963, Joan taught elementary school in Burbank. She later worked as an administrative assistant. Quick to laugh and adventurous in spirit, Joan loved travel and good food. Greece and Hawaii were favorite destinations. Survivors include her son, Steve Westman and wife Fernanda, her beloved granddaughters Julia and Isabella, and many dear friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the City of Hope.
