Joseph Kalb Obituary
November 21, 1922 - February 14, 2014 Joe Kalb, a kind and funny man who loved entertaining people, passed away peacefully at age 91 on February 14, 2014 in San Juan Capistrano. Born in Galveston, Texas, Joe was a commercial and vaudeville star who was known for his one-liners, Joe started his career in New York on the stage before moving to Las Vegas in its early days to open for such performers as Merv Griffin. His "Peop-ettes" show, which was a combination of a half human and half puppet, was a Vegas hit in the 50's. After co-owning Rogers Shoes, Joe returned to show business in the 1990's and appeared in several popular TV commercials for McDonald's, Chex cereal, Doritos, E-Trade, Haines socks and AT&T. He also had roles in the movies "The Mousehunt" and "White Oleander." Joe attended the University of Texas before serving in World War II. Joe is survived by his devoted daughter Elizabeth Sherwin, son-in-law Gary Sherwin, granddaughters Lauren and Allyson Sherwin, Heather O'Connell and grandsons Jason and Justin Peteler. He also has two great grandchildren Cooper and Casey O'Connell. He was married to his wife Eleanor Kalb for 51 years before she passed away in 2011. Services will be held at Noon on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Hillside Memorial Park.
