January 7, 1930 - July 25, 2014
Norma was born in Salt Lake City to Margaret "Babe" and Jack Wright and grew up in San Antonio, Texas. She attended Hockaday School and was a Theta at the University of Texas. She met her future husband, E. Conway "Con" Stratford at the urging of family members who had know each other since the 1920s in Austria. Despite such an ominous start in 1951, they dated, then married in 1954 and recently celebrated 60 great years of marriage. Norma died of acute leukemia and was predeceased by her parents and two very dear sisters. Con and Norma came to California where she supported him while he finished his studies at UCLA School of Medicine.
She leaves her husband, children Susan Stratford, Karen (Dan) Harvey, Nancy Stratford, and Scott (Heather) Stratford and her grandchildren Michelle, Jay, and Matthew Harvey and Blake and Reece Stratford by her son.
Norma greatly enjoyed aerobic dancing and bowling; and treasured the deep friendships attendant to these activities. She loved those friends, and they her, and especially enjoyed lunches and other social gatherings. She was gregarious, had sparkly eyes and loved her succession of dogs, and they her, though as a child she had her Daddy pick her up from school should she merely hear one bark! Norma was, above all, a people person to whom all gravitated, and a devoted wife and "Mom" leaving a legacy of love, caring, thoughtfulness, and selflessness achieved by few. We all know how our journeys end and we were enriched by her presence. Emulating her life would add wealth to ours.
By her choice, she was cremated with no services.
