Patricia Matthews Mulville Obituary
May 21, 1939 - February 11, 2014 Patricia (better known to most as Pat), passed peacefully at home while surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Nod; her sister Susan (Matthews) Wallace; children Ann and Daniel, and grandchildren Liam, Quinn, and Brynn; brother-in-law Roy Wallace; niece Kathryn, nephews Thom and Peter; son-in-law Mike McFarland. She is beloved to them as a most devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Pat was born in San Francisco, the daughter of Albert J. and Kathryn M. Matthews. However, she lived almost her entire life in Los Angeles, including 51 years in Pacific Palisades. She was a graduate of Immaculate Heart High School, and then UCLA before eventually earning her M.Ed. from Pepperdine. She worked over 40 years as a special education teacher in the L.A. Unified School district. She worked with countless children who had special needs, learning disorders and disabilities ranging from mild to the most severe. She was privileged to teach at Marquez Elementary school for 35 years, which honored her at her retirement by painting a mural with her likeness on the classroom building. After retiring in 2004, she continued involvement with education as a tutor and consultant. Pat was a devout Roman Catholic and was very involved at Corpus Christi parish, including singing soprano in the choir and long service on the bereavement committee. Her true passion was service to others, and this led her to distinguished participation in the Assistance League of Southern California. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 15 at 2:00pm at Corpus Christi Church in Pacific Palisades. Following mass, a reception and celebration of the wonderful woman that Pat was will be held in the parish hall. There will be an interment ceremony on Tuesday February 18. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Assistance League of Southern California, or St. John of God Retirement and Care Center.
