December 22, 1926 - January 3, 2014 Paula S. Walzer, Age 87, died in Los Angeles, California on January 3, 2014;¿ Born: December 22, 1926, Manchester, England.¿ Her parents were Joseph and Betty Silverston.¿ She is survived by her brother Neville Silverston; Sons:¿ Peter and his wife Faye, David, Andrew, and Lloyd and his wife Rebecca; Grandchildren: Sarah, Graham, Emma, Hannah, Naomi, Andy Jr., and Freida.¿ Paula grew up in war torn England, spent her childhood in boarding school and then went to Switzerland for Art school. She traveled to the States as a young woman where she met her husband to be, Stuart B. Walzer in Chicago.¿ Paula was a young fashion designer, designing rain coats for her father's business and even her own wedding gown. After moving to L.A. with Stuart, she received her BFA from Otis Art Institute as well as her paralegal certificate from UCLA.¿ She had many art shows over the years and became an accomplished artist. In the 1960's Paula was a panelist in a group called Portraits of American Women that gave programs intended to bring together people of different races and creeds.¿ Throughout her life, she taught art to children. Paula was a supporter of all things democratic and took an active role in politics. She served on the Board at Leo Baeck Temple during her years in L.A. In their retirement, Paula and Stuart moved to the Monterey Bay area and enjoyed gardening, walking, traveling, bird watching, art-making, flower collecting, papermaking, literature, classical music, cooking, photography, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a dedicated docent at the MMOA and Robinson Gardens. Paula and Stuart were married for 60+ years up until Stuart's passing on June 23, 2013.
