April 17, 1921 - October 12, 2013 Born and raised in Somerville, MA, he was one of five children of Maximilian and Mary (Baratta) Luppi, Italian immigrants from Parma and Modena, Italy. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and briefly an instructor at Villanova University in Pennsylvania, Phil taught high school for the Los Angeles School District for over twenty-five years until his retirement. Phil was a very talented piano player who could captivate an audience with his style, creativity and versatility. He had a passion for collecting vintage automobiles and could be seen joyfully driving them around the streets of Los Angeles until shortly before his passing. In his later years, Phil devotedly cared for his elderly, disabled mother and his sister, Florence, both of whom he loved dearly. He and his charisma and his fine sense of humor, creative and funny, will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
