Upon returning from World War II, Ray met and fell in love with Mary Marshall who had also served in the Navy during the war. They married in 1946 and settled in Hollywood, California, where they lived for over 60 years. Together they ran Ray M. Talkington Insurance Agency. In addition to being a long time business owner in Hollywood, Ray was an active member and past president of the Rotary Club of West Hollywood. Ray moved to Carlsbad, California, in 2010. He is survived by nieces Janet Greene, Paulette Gunter, Barbara Palecek, Melody Jones, and Maureen Turzian; nephew John Nichols; and numerous family members including grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. A special thank you is offered to Ray's cousin Susan and her husband Jim Huntsberry for all the love and care they showed Ray.

He was preceded in death by his "beloved" Mary, his parents E.R. and Lillian, his sister Dorothy Nichols, and his brother Earl Talkington. Ray was the epitome of a true Texas gentleman. He was a warm, loving family man and a wonderful friend to so many. He will be greatly missed by all.
