Robert Lewis Hunt passed away peacefully at home in San Marino, CA on Friday, April 12, 2013. He was 92.
Robert Hunt was born in Newark, New Jersey on January 10, 1921. He moved to California as a young man. He attended Los Angeles High School. He fought in the US Army during World War II. He attended UCLA and USC undergrad where he met his wife of 65 years, June Tornay. He was a proud member of Sigma Chi Fraternity at USC. Bob then attended USC Law School where he was honored as a member of The Order of the Coif. He formed a private practice law partnership with classmate Jack Lafollette and later took a position in the legal department of Security First National Bank. He became General Counsel and later served as Executive Vice President and Head of the Trust Department at Security Pacific Bank until retirement. He was a former president of the Trust Division of the American Bankers Association and was a member of the executive committee of the California State Bar Association for a number of years. He was a former member of Los Angeles Country Club, the California Club and Annandale Golf Club. Bob and his family lived in San Marino for 51 years. He had a passion for world travel, having visited over 100 countries. He loved golf, photography, computers and was dedicated to his family. He was very proud to be a direct descendant of Francis Lewis, signer of the Declaration of Independence.
He is survived by his wife June, his sons Rob Hunt (Nancy) of San Marino and Randy Hunt (Valerie) of Laguna Beach, his daughter Stephanie Raffel (Joe) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, six grandchildren Robert L. Hunt III, Joseph Raffel (Allyson), David Tyler Hunt, Lindsey Hunt Marmolejo (Mike), Hayley Hunt Hedges (Duncan), Evelyn Hunt, and one great grandchild Charlotte Raffel.
