KAPLAN M.D., Ronald J.
July 26, 1927-April 29, 2013
Dr. Kaplan was raised in Los Angeles and graduated from LA High, UCLA, and USC School of Medicine. A practicing urologist for over 50 years in Sherman Oaks, he was beloved by patients and respected by colleagues and co-workers. As an adjunct clinical professor of Urologic Surgery at USC, he trained several generations of urologists. Ron was an avid sailor, racing long distance to Mexico and Hawaii. He was Commodore of Del Rey Yacht Club and served for many years on the Board of Directors. His second passion was flying. He volunteered many hours for Angel Flight, which provides free transportation for medical care. His other interests included traveling and attending LA Philharmonic concerts. Ron passed away peacefully at age 85 after several years of declining health. Beloved husband of Barbara, devoted father of Peter, Mark (Karin) and Bruce (Jodie), loving grandfather of Matt, Lauren, Molly, Seth, Brianna, and Ellie. He is survived by sister Florence.
Memorial service at 10:30am May 19th at Del Rey Yacht Club. Donations may be made to Angel Flight West (angelflight.org).
