HAFF, Ruby R. "Dusty" passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2012. Born June 12, 1923 in Phoenix, AZ to Stephen T. and Josephine A. Horwath, she was one of four children. Her brothers, Clarence S. and Robert T., pre-deceased her as did her loving husband, Bill. After leaving Phoenix the family came to Southern CA where her father started S&H Packing Co. Dusty and her little sister (Joei) could always be found on the assembly line helping their father and brothers sort tomatoes. Dusty attended UCLA and USC. In 1944 she met her handsome Navy pilot, Wilson Meredith (Bill) Haff. They had one daughter, Stephanie. Bill and Dusty were married 55 years and experienced three wars and 30 years of military life traveling the world. Dusty emplified the true meaning of being a Naval Officer's wife. They settled in Camarillo in the early 60's where Bill was stationed at Pt. Mugu. Dusty established herself with various charities and organizations in Ventura County and LA County. She was recognized for her superb leadership in Navy League, Ventura County Agency on Aging, Assistance League, Las Patronas, The Mary and Joseph League, Christ Child Society of Pasadena, The Equestrian Order of The Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, USC Norris Cancer Center and many more. Dusty achieved greatest recognition as being President of the USC Associates with the Davis School of Gerontology where her devotion earned her the Dean's Medallion. She also established the St. Elizabeth Scholarship Fund in honor of her Mother, Josephine, who founded the organization in the 50's to help care for elderly women. The scholarship is awarded annually to USC students studying Gerontology. Family and Friends will forever remember this exceptional woman for her wit, love and wisdom. Dusty is survived by her loving daughter, Stephanie H. Pearson of Camarillo, her sister, Josephine (Joei) Spencer of New Orleans, 12 nieces and nephews, 26 great nieces and nephews and 16 great great nieces and nephews.
