January 28, 1927 - June 4, 2014 Suzanne Elizabeth Olander Grimes passed away peacefully on June 4 after a long illness, at the age of 87. She was the daughter of the late Milton and Mary Sue Olander of Sylvania, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Charles Grimes of Brentwood, California. She is survived by her children David (Tanya) of Pasadena; Susan of Montecito, and George (Barbara) of St. Louis, Missouri; her grandchildren David (Elizabeth), Charlie, Andrew, Sarah (Brian), Jake and Joseph; her great-grandson, David; her brother, Milt (Corky); and many nieces, nephews and friends. Suzanne was born in Rockford, Illinois, where her father was Assistant Football Coach at the University of Illinois under Bob Zuppke. She attended Ogontz Camp and Smith College. In 1949, she married and went to live in England where her husband studied Economics at Cambridge on a Mellon Fellowship. Suzanne later lived in New York, Dallas, and Los Angeles, where she maintained the best garden in Brentwood for almost 50 years. She spent the last year of her life with family in St. Louis. She adored her family, church, friends and dogs. She participated in many volunteer activities, including Docent at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Deacon of Pacific Palisades Presbyterian Chuch; Member of the Santa Monica Bay Auxillary of Children's Hospital, and as a member of the Human Subject Protection Committee at UCLA Medical Center. She loved travel, Agatha Christie/Dick Francis novels, and paddle tennis at The Beach Club, where she would embarrass her teenage children by rafting amonst the surfers. She will be remembered for her great warmth and generosity of spirit. A service will be held on June 24 at 1:00 PM at Pacific Palisades Presbyterian Church, 15821 Sunset Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to a
