November 21, 1922 - April 22, 2014 Tom was born in LA to Dr. Thomas Jefferson DeVaughn & Ethel Taylor, related to President Zachary Taylor. He died at 91 in Mesa, AZ. Tom piloted a B-24 over the So. Pacific in WWII. He was married to Maxina Scholey until she died from breast cancer. He & his 25 year partner, Dianne, shared many happy years in Mesa and Show Low. Dianne cared for & stood by him every day during his decline from Alzheimer's until his death. Tom was a Pricing Analyst at Boeing & the Navy. He won gold medals in pole vault & other track events in the US Sr, Olympics, pole vaulting into his 80's. He & Dianne were active, walking and hiking in Show Low. Tom sang "standards" with his friend at retirement homes. Even after his memory failed, he could sing his Sinatra favorites. Tom is survived by his partner, Dianne O'Neilin. (His son, Thomas Scholey DeVaughn, died in 1992) his daughter Robin Mattocks, grandson Doug Mattocks & wife Cindy, & their children Kendra, Dakota, Mikayla and Ellie; Dianne's sons, Danny, Dale, Doug & Darren, grandchildren, Danielle and her family, Matthew & Dillon; Danny's wife Pia, her son, Matthew & his wife Janelle. His ashes are at Inglewood Park Cemetery.
