Rowena Lyon, age 82, died peacefully April 8, 2013, surrounded by family at Kaiser Hospital in Anaheim from complications due to cancer. Rowena was much loved by everyone she came in contact with. She never met anyone she didn't call a friend. Rowena was a Red Cross volunteer at the Long Beach Naval Hospital and became a full-time employee in 1983 until its closing. She was a Lady Elk in Paramount for many years as well. After a battle with breast cancer in 2008, she became active with the Santa Fe Springs
along with many family members. She lived with her husband for over 60 years in the same Long Beach home. Rowena leaves behind her loving husband of 63 years, Robert; son, Robert and daughter, Cynthia; grandchildren, James, Robert, Breanna and Nicholas; as well as sisters, "Pipi" and Jonette and brother, Clinton. Rowena was a great-grandmother of three boys with her first great-granddaughter on the way this summer. She will be missed more than words can convey. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on May 4, 2013 at Faith Christian Assembly in Seal Beach, 13820 Seal Beach Bl., Seal Beach, CA 90740.
