Arthur L. Hepler MYERSTOWN Arthur "Art" Lamar Hepler, 84, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at the VA Medical Center, Lebanon. He was the husband of Violet G. (Umbenhauer) Hepler, to whom he would have been married 62 years on December 24, 2013. Born in Donaldson, Pa., on July 1, 1929, he was the son of the late Harvey O. and Annie M. (Dinger) Hepler. A 1947 graduate of Tremont High School, he served in Korea during the Korean War, and was employed as an LPN at the VA Medical Center, Lebanon, for 31 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Millcreek Lutheran Church, Newmanstown; Williamson Lodge F & AM #307, Womelsdorf; White Shrine of Jerusalem #56, Lebanon; Order of Eastern Star, Conrad Weiser Chapter; past Grand Tall Cedar, Lebanon; life member of Myerstown VFW and past commander; Richland American Legion Post 880; National Assn. of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 458; Rajah Shrine, Reading; past president of Lebanon Shrine Club; Historic Schaefferstown; Goodwill Fire Co., Myerstown; and was past Noble Grand of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Lebanon. He was an avid fisherman. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Cindy D., wife of Gary Strause of Schubert; sons, Dr. Kevin M., husband of Sylvia Hepler of Mechanicsburg, Kent L., husband of Tammy Hepler of Schaefferstown, and Kris L., husband of Laura Hepler of Womelsdorf; grandchildren, Jamie and Nicole Strause, and Aaron, Benjamin, Nathan, and Zachary Hepler; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Trainer; and brothers, Harvey and Harlan Hepler. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. from Millcreek Lutheran Church, 221 N. Sheridan Road, Newmanstown. Visitation at 10 a.m. with a Masonic service at 10:45 a.m. Inurnment with full military honors will be in the Strausstown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Millcreek Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 399, Newmanstown, PA 17073.
