Edward J. Frazer MARION TWP. Edward J. Frazer, 83, died in the evening hours Sunday, December 29, 2013, in the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Sue E. (Long) Frazer. Born October 5, 1930, in Newmanstown, he was a son of the late William and Virginia (Claar) Frazer. Edward retired from the Cornwall Lebanon School District, but had previously worked for Caron Spinning Mill, later Yarn Manufacturing, Womelsdorf. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Stouchsburg, and a life member of both the Richland Legion Post #880 and the Myerstown VFW Post #6076. A 1949 graduate of Newmanstown High School, Edward was an avid baseball player. He played ball for the Newmanstown Maroons in 1946 and 1949, Robesonia High School in 1946 and 1947, Schaefferstown in 1947, the Richland Legion 1946-1948, and was a Legion All Star at Harrisburg Island Park, rated second in 1948. Played at Pittsburgh Eastern All Star vs. Western All Star 1948, signed with the Boston Braves and played at Owensboro, Ky. in 1949, signed with the Cardinals and played at Fredericksburg, PA in 1950, and was later sold to the Geneva Red Birds and played in Geneva, Ala. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Anita E. (Michael) Layser, Carlisle, Debra S. (Jeffrey) Sholly, Newmanstown, Randall E. (Terri) Frazer, Robesonia; and by his grandchildren, Kirsten and Michael Layser, and Andrew and Cory Sholly. He was predeceased by his brother, William Frazer Jr. Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the Mull Funeral Home, 27 E. High St., Womelsdorf. Burial will follow in Christ Lutheran (Long's) Cemetery, Stouchsburg. Friends may call Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
