Dr. John Risser, DVM ADAMSTOWN, MD Dr. John Vere Risser, DVM, 88, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth Shuey Risser. Born on October 21, 1925, in Lancaster County, Pa., he was the son of the late Clarence Baker Risser and Mary Cathryn Shank Risser. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in WWII. He was a graduate of Penn State University and the University of Georgia and was a dedicated veterinarian for many years. Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, John L. Risser and wife Deborah of Lancaster, Robin Risser Mundey and husband Rev. Dr. Paul Mundey of Frederick, Md., and Sherry Risser Nelson and husband Eric of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; one brother, Clarence M. Risser of Annville; and one sister, Anna R. Ressler of Lititz; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Avenue, Frederick, MD 21701. Private interment will be in the Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra, Pa.
