Lucille D. Kirkwood ANNVILLE Lucille D. Kirkwood, 93, of the Lebanon Valley Home, Annville, formerly of Water Works, died Monday, October 7, 2013, in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. She was the wife of the late John R. Kirkwood who died in 1989. Born in Allentown on April 11, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Maggie Butz Dorney. She retired as the Department Chairman of Home Economics at Lebanon High School. After retirement, she spent winters in Florida working at Disney World and summers working at Yellowstone National Park. Lucille was a WAVE in the U.S. Navy during WW II, a graduate of Cedar Crest University, and received her master's degree in Home Economics from Penn State University. She was a member of Christ Church United Church of Christ, Annville. Lucille and Jack were long-time members of the Snitz Creek dance club. They also enjoyed camping and traveling. Surviving is a son, John R. Kirkwood, III and wife Joan of Annville; a daughter Kathy wife of Drew Kachele of Kennewick, Wash.; a brother, Ralph Dorney; four grandchildren, Matthew Kirkwood, Amy (Kirkwood) King, Hannah (Kachele) Sneyd, and Heidi (Kachele) Payne, and three great-grandchildren, Easton and Bennett Sneyd, and Corbin Payne. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. from the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. No viewing or visitation.
