Robert H. Martin CLEONA Robert H. "Pepper" Martin, 85, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, in the M. S. Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Gladys Meyer Martin to whom he was married 60 years. Born in Elizabethtown on December 15, 1928, he was the son of the late Emmett L. and Irene Heilman Martin. He was a retired Maintenance and Operations Foreman at the M. S. Hershey Medical Center with 17 years of service. In his earlier years, he was the owner of Robert H. Martin Electrical Service for 19 years. Pepper was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a 1946 graduate of Lebanon High School and the Philadelphia School of Electricity. He was a member of Hill Lutheran Church where he was instrumental in building the Church Fellowship Hall, Mt. Lebanon Lodge #226 F. &A.M., BPOE Elks #631, Lebanon, and a life member of the Cleona Fire Company, where he served as a former chief. Surviving is a son, Samuel A. Martin of Sugar Ridge, Texas; a daughter, Sally wife of Dennis G. George of Annville; three grandchildren, Sarah wife of Erik Leonard, Erin wife of Joseph Lingle, Steven Robert George; and two great-grandchildren, Sylvia Pepper Leonard, and Vincent J. Leonard. He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Jane Basehore. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hill Lutheran Church, 998 N. Mill St., Lebanon, PA 17046. Interment will be in Hill Church Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville. Masonic services will be held on Tuesday evening at 6:45 p.m. Contributions may be made to Hill Lutheran Church in his memory.
