Samuel J. Zearfoss ANNVILLE Samuel J. "Red" Zearfoss, 90, of 66 Kindred Place, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013, in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of the late Josephine E. Schaeffer Zearfoss, to whom he was married 63 years. Born in Annville on April 20, 1923, he was the son of the late Emanuel R. and Helen M. Zellers Zearfoss. He was a long time employee of Lebanon Valley College, working as the maintenance superintendent. Red was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran of WWII and served in the Signal Corps during the Korean War at Ft. Polk, La. He was a 1941 graduate of Annville High School. He was a member of Christ Church United Church of Christ where he sang in the choir. He was a life member and former Chief of the Annville Union Hose Fire Company, a member of Annville American Legion Post 559, Friends of Olde Annville, Lebanon County Fireman's Association, Lebanon County Fire Chief's Association, Fireman's Association of the State of PA, Lebanon County Fire School Committee, and the Singing Cedars Chorus. Surviving are two sons, Joseph W., husband of Dynita K. Zearfoss of Baltimore, Md., and Glenn A., husband of Cindy M. Zearfoss of Hummelstown; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Annville. Viewing will be held on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Christ Church, 200 S. White Oak St., Annville, PA 17003; or the Union Hose Fire Company, 215 E. Main St., Annville, PA 17003 in his memory.
