Walter E. Clews HARRISBURG Walter E. Clews, 80, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Spring Creek Nursing Center. Born February 21, 1933, in Centralia, he was the son of the late Elmer and Anna (Levan) Clews. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Kay Clews. Mr. Clews was a retired purchasing engineer for the former AMP, Inc. and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a graduate of Milton Hershey School, class of 1951. He was a High School PIAA Official for both football and wrestling, with 11 years of service. He coached St. Margaret Mary Football for 19 years, coached football and wrestling at Bishop McDevitt High School, and was a wrestling coach at Milton Hershey. Walter was inducted into both the Capital Area Chapter and the Lebanon County Chapter of the PA Sports Hall of Fame. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Wanda (Pagana) Clews; two stepsons, David Shannon and wife, Nancy of Lincoln, Maine, and Thomas Shannon and wife, Sue-Ann of Columbia, S.C.; three stepgrandsons, Matthew, Andrew, and Phillip Shannon; two sisters, Shirley Clements and husband, Bobby, and Louise Shutter and husband, Craig, both of Lebanon; and three brothers, Ralph Clews and wife, Kathleen of Lebanon, Eugene "Sunny" Clews and wife, Judy of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Rev. John Weyman and wife, Ruth of Upper Strasburg. A Memorial Service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2013, in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. Friday until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the , 3544 N. Progress Ave., Ste. 101, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
