William N. Shipley Obituary
William N. Shipley MYERSTOWN William N. "Bill" Shipley, 91, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at the Stone Ridge Poplar Run. He was the husband of Irene A. Garbaccio Shipley, who died in 2003. Born in Philadelphia, on March 20, 1922, he was the son of the late William and Ethel J. Newton Shipley. William proudly served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps. He attended Spencer Business College in New York. Bill was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. He was the owner/operator of Bill Shipley's TV & Appliance in Totowa, N.J. Bill was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Annville, American Legion Post 227 Totowa, N.J., Passaic County Commander, and NJ State Commander. Bill was a Boy Scout Leader and Past President and Board of Education Member in Totowa, N.J. He was on the finance committee at St. Cecelia's in Lebanon. He was a member of the Northern Lebanon Young Farmers. Bill enjoyed many activities including fishing, hunting, playing cards, and baseball. He was a volunteer fireman and was the former Mayor of Womelsdorf. He was famously known for his cooking talents and cooked for many organizations and churches. Surviving are a son, William W. Shipley and wife, Margaret McGuinness of Malvern; daughter, Billie, wife of James Hill of Fredericksburg; seven grandchildren, John W. Schlaffer and wife, Fawn, James P. Schlaffer and companion, Toni Em, Edward J. Schlaffer and wife, Teri, Richard J. Hill and wife, Gale, Teresa J. Shuey and husband, Kevin, William M. Shipley and wif,e Sarah, and Erin Shipley; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 125 S. Spruce St., Annville 17003. Interment with full military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Viewing will be held Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville 17003, and prior to the service on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
