Andrea Fowler Kanoza East Lansing Andrea Fowler Kanoza, 41, died at home amongst loved ones on December 17th, 2012, after a brave and courageous fight with Melanoma (skin cancer). Born in Lansing, MI on November 26, 1971, Andrea graduated from East Lansing High School in 1990. She attended Arizona State University where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She received her Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Olivet College in 1996. In 2009, she earned her Master's Degree, summa cum laude, in Educational Administration from Michigan State University. Andrea has been happily married to her devoted and loving husband, Richard Lee Kanoza, since July of 2006. The world of education was Andrea's passion as she was continuously driven to make a difference in the lives of each of her students. She began teaching elementary school in Lansing Public Schools, and then continued her career in Owosso Schools. In the spring of 2012 Andrea's previous students honored her with the prestigious Starfish Award, recognizing her dedication to the educational community and ability to challenge students to reach their full potential. Andrea is survived by her husband, Richard Lee Kanoza, and two children: Dain Ryckman and Kennedy Kanoza. She is also survived by her mother, Judy Fowler of Harbor Springs, her father Ken (Sandy) Fowler of East Lansing, sisters: Miechelle (Mitch) Landrum of Algonac, Amy Fowler of Austin, TX, and brother: KC Fowler of Salt Lake City, Utah. Andrea was preceded in death by her grandparents: Robert K. and Princess Fowler and Gilbert and Neva Maas. A memorial service and celebration of Andrea's life will be held on Saturday, December 29th at 1p.m. at Owosso Wesleyan Church located at 715 S. Washington Ave., Owosso, MI. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made in Andrea's name to University of Michigan Office of Medical Development, Attn: Ryan Davis/Cancer, 1000 Oakbrook Drive, Ste. 100, Ann Arbor, MI. 48104.
