Caroline Augur Schneider Age 95 died on September 17, 2013 in Loveland, Colorado. She was born August 19, 1918 in Davao, Mindanao, the Philippine Island where her parents, Julius and Gertrude Augur were Congregational missionaries. With two younger sisters the family returned to Hartford, CN in 1927. She was graduated from West Hartford High School in 1937 and that same year earned the Girl Scout Golden Eaglet award. In 1941 she was graduated from the Mount Holyoke College and received the Skinner Fellowship from the Mt. Holyoke Art Department which made possible an MA in Art Education from Columbia Teachers, N.Y. in 1942. From 1942-1951 she taught the Studio Art courses at Wheaton College, Norton MA. In 1951 she married John Paul Schneider of Lansing, MI who was Graphic Specialist for the Department of Resource Development at Michigan State University, E. Lansing, MI. In 1955 they moved to a home designed by Paul and built on Hawthorne Lane in Okemos, MI. A daughter, Sarah, was born in 1957 and a son, David, in 1959. The Schneiders were active in community and church activities as members of University Lutheran Church. In her later years Caroline became involved with Community Volunteers for International Programs at MSU. Foreign student families enjoyed the hospitality of the Schneiders. An avid gardener, Caroline shared her produce and flowers with them. Caroline and Paul moved to Burcham Hills Retirement Home in October 1999, E. Lansing, MI, where Paul died in January 2000. In May of 2003 Caroline received a certificate of appreciation from Community Volunteers for International programs. In 2012 Sarah and David decided that Caroline should move to be near Sarah's home in Colorado, to make her life easier. In September 2012 Caroline moved to Lake View Commons Assisted Living Community in Loveland, CO, and met many nice new neighbors from around the United States, as well as being cared for by a wonderful staff. She is survived by her Daughter, Sarah Schneider (Robert) Engmark of Loveland, CO, Son, David Augur Schneider (Susan) of Mason, MI, Grandchildren, Holly Schneider of Pompano, FL, John Engmark of Kentwood, MI, and David Engmark of Chicago, IL. She also leaves a younger Sister Fidelia, and Robert Lane of Cromwell, CT, and their two daughters and families. A private family ceremony is planned for the spring of 2014 at the Mt.
