Doris E. Mader East Lansing Born April 29, 1924 in Carrollton, Ohio to William and Jesse Simmons, passed away January 3, 2013 at the age of 88. Doris graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelors Degree in Social Work. She spent many years raising her 5 children. Doris was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Okemos. She loved to travel and had a great appreciation for art and music. She especially adored spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doris is survived by her children, John Mader, Barbara (Rob) Carlson, Carol Mader, Mary Mader, and Sandra (Joel) Corder; her former husband, Dr. Ivan Mader; grandchildren, Rachel (Corey) Philipp, Eric (Carrie) Carlson, Emily (Brad) Rush, Hannah Stockwell, Timothy Stockwell, Ellen Corder, Luke Corder and Michael Corder; great-grandchildren, Connor, Liam, Logan, Andrew and Samuel and her sister Vivian (Paul) Guess; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Dietz. A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held January 11, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at Presbyterian Church of Okemos, 2258 Bennett Rd., Okemos with the Rev. Dr. Robert T. Carlson, Jr. officiating.
