Dorothy M. "Dottie" Cook DeWitt Dorothy M. "Dottie" Cook of DeWitt, Michigan died on February 19, 2014. Dottie was born on July 16, 1919 to Arthur and Mae (Wheeler) Lindke in Watertown, Michigan. She attended and graduated from Croswell (Michigan) High School. Dottie graduated from Michigan State University with a teaching certificate in June 1941. On July 20, 1941, she married Jack R. Cook. During WWII, Jack served in the army and he and Dottie lived in Florida, Iowa, and California. In 1953, Dottie began working for Auto-Owners Insurance Company. She worked for Auto-Owners for 30 years before retiring. Dottie often remarked that Auto-Owners was a great company to work for. Dottie was predeceased by her husband Jack on August 17, 1993. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Glenadine "Peg" Weber, of Grand Haven, Michigan. She is also survived by her very dear friends Bruce and Darren Whipple, Jeff Love, and the Higbie family, who have been like a family to Dorothy and have been a great help to her for many years. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Capitol Are Humane Society, Lions Club Leader Dog Program, Lansing City Rescue Mission, or North Westminster Presbyterian Church.
