E. Jane Baker Lansing E. Jane Baker, age 87, peacefully passed away holding the hands of her loved ones on July 9, 2013. A graduate of Grand Ledge High School and University of Michigan School of Nursing, Jane worked for several years as an RN with the VNA. When she married and became a mother, she worked part time as an RN for her husband's private practice. She was a volunteer at Sparrow Hospital, serving in various capacities, most recently by knitting hats and booties for the newborns. She was an active member of the Michigan State Medical Society Auxiliary for many years. She fed her love of classical music by being a long time subscriber of the Lansing Symphony. Jane loved being outdoors, working in her garden, going for walks, boating and fishing. She and her husband were among the founding members of the Crystal Sail Club. She was a long time member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and served in various ways over the years. Jane enjoyed a good game of golf, playing cards and dominoes, visiting and of course, her beloved MSU hockey. She enjoyed her time at her cottage on Crystal Lake with family and friends. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, and her brother, Bill. Survivors include three children, Jennifer (Skip) Peterson of Virginia, Thomas W Baker of Lennon, Martha (Tony) Hinton of New Hampshire; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 1900 Boston Blvd., Lansing, MI.
