Edgar George Dixon, of Charlotte, passed away on June 24, 2014.
He was born on September 11, 1951 to Arnold and Lenor (Hoose) Dixon in Lansing, MI. He attended Grand Ledge High School, graduating in 1969. On February 13, 1971 he married Debra Doxsie, and together they had two sons.
Ed served his country in the U.S. Air National Guard during the Vietnam War. Ed was employed with General Motors, where he worked in the skilled trades department for 37 years, until his retirement in 2006. He will always be remembered as a genuine friend you could count on for help. His stable and even personality made him a fun guy to be around. Ed loved hunting, especially trips out west. Fishing was also an avid interest of his, he enjoyed fishing from the piers in Florida and pulling numerous species of fish from the surf. He loved to travel to Florida, for Spring Break, and tropical trips to the many destinations in the Caribbean. Michigan History was a passion of Ed's. Family would often be peppered with his questions that started with "Did you know...?" As a sports fan, he cheered on the Detroit Lions, always hoping they would pull through. Closer to home he was an avid University of Michigan supporter. Coaching little league softball for his boys and watching them play sports as they grew up was most likely his all-time favorite past time.
Edgar is survived by his wife of 43 years Debra; sons, Jock Dixon of Marquette, and Scott Dixon of Meridian, Mississippi; five grandchildren, and sisters Lorraine (Clare) Courtier and Mirriam (Darl) Storey. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter Ashley, and his sister Dawn Grove.
