Elwood "Al" Michael Stock Mason Formerly of Lansing Al Stock, age 75, passed away August 9, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. Al was born September 30, 1937 to Merlen and Rose Stock in Adrian, Michigan. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in Adrian. In 1959, Al graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Economics. At MSU, he was affiliated with Delta Upsilon fraternity. While at MSU, Al met co-ed Shirley Jean Hengesbach. They married on May 7, 1960 at the Church of the Resurrection in Lansing, Michigan. Also in 1960, he started his working career with General Motors and retired in 1991 as a General Supervisor. In retirement, Al enjoyed his association with Forest Akers Golf Course at MSU and with Mistwood Golf Course near Glen Lake. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lansing and St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Empire, Michigan, the Elks Club of Lansing, the Lions Club of Maple City, the General Motors Retirement Club of Lansing and the Michigan Athletic Club of East Lansing. Al is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Shirley, children, Michael Stock of Okemos, Michigan, Diane (Raymond) Santostefano of Middletown, Connecticut and Carol (Mark) Drayton of Plantation, Florida, and grandchildren, McKenzie and Michaela Stock and Michael, Sofia and Julia Santostefano. Also surviving are his sister-in-law, Sister Barbara Hengesbach of Hazel Park, Michigan and many nieces, nephews and friends. Al was predeceased by his parents and brother, Wayne Stock. Al loved his family and friends, his church, Glen Lake, and golf - and in that order. The family would like to thank all of the caring personnel at St. Gerard Parish, The Center for Cancer Care and Blood Disorders, and Sparrow Home Hospice Services. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at St Gerard Church, 4437 W. Willow Hwy., Lansing, Michigan. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5-8 P.M. on Monday at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing, Michigan with a Rosary at 7:30 P.M. as well as one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at church.
