George A. Heynig Holt, Formerly of Mt. Pleasant Born September 26, 1921 in Harbor Springs, MI, the son of the late Maxwell and Celia (Huey) Heynig, passed away March 7, 2013 at the age of 91. A Harbor Springs high school graduate, George went on to proudly serve his country with the U.S. Marines in the Battle of Tarawa in the Pacific and a second tour in Korea. He worked as a plasterer in Lansing and later relocated to Mt. Pleasant and was the owner/operator of George's Bar for many years. George was also a long time member of the Morley S. Oates V.F.W. Post 701 and the Moose Lodge in Mt. Pleasant. He served as President of the Mt. Pleasant Business Owners Association in 1973. He enjoyed traveling and hunting. Preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Francis in 1991; and special niece Helen Kropp. Surviving to cherish his memory are his special niece, Carol (Don) Bommer; niece Doreen Bouck; nephew, Gerald (Linda) Howse; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12th at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. For those desiring, contributions in memory of George may be made to the American Red Cross, Central Michigan Chapter, 215 E. Broadway, Mt.
